Dalton Knit Sweater in Scarlet Red Welflame Cashmere

The Dalton Sweater is a smaller, more fitted version of Gabriela Hearst's signature Lawrence Sweater. It is spun with 100% cashmere fibers that are barely twisted in order to allow the natural softness of the yarn to be accentuated. This season we used the same fibers but spun the yarn with a thick and thin effect, giving it a rugged appearance while still maintaining the ultimate luxurious handfeel. The fit is slim and slightly cropped.

This garment was produced at a Fair-Trade women’s co-operative in Uruguay. They are a non-profit, founded by five women in 1968. Their mission is to provide work opportunity for rural women artisans, so they can gain income near their family and home instead of moving to the city for work.

This luxury yarn manufacturer was founded in 1928. Its yarn collections are all produced internally at two factories, where they own and oversee the whole production cycle. They comply with the following standards: Textile and Health Association - Member Masters of Linen and European Flax (LINIFICO) - Certified European Federation of Flax and Hemp (CELC) - Member Sustainable Fiber Alliance (SFA) for cashmere.

Cashmere is one of the most luxurious wools, with desirable drape, softness and wrinkle resistance. It is up to three times more insulating than regular wool, with lofty fibers that can be tightly knit into warm and lightweight fabric. Like all wool, it wicks moisture and allows skin to breathe. Cashmere is considered hypoallergenic, since it doesn’t have lanolin. While more delicate than other wool, cashmere garments will not lose their shape if properly cared for. This is due to the fiber’s natural stretch that allows garment to move with you and recover.
