The Adolphine is based on a classic slip-on dress with a multiple-pintuck detail on the chiffon panel at the bust and lace embroidery detail through the upper torso. This silhouette is a Gabriela Hearst staple. The front neckline is trimmed with a custom lace edging and a bright pop of a wider trim lace runs at angles below delicately pintucked chiffon . Tie-dyed engineered cashmere forms the the base of this versatile, colorful piece.

Fabric

Cashmere is one of the most luxurious wools, with desirable drape, softness and wrinkle resistance. It is up to three times more insulating than regular wool, with lofty fibers that can be tightly knit into warm and lightweight fabric. Like all wool, it wicks moisture and allows skin to breathe. Cashmere is considered hypoallergenic, since it doesn’t have lanolin. While more delicate than other wool, cashmere garments will not lose their shape if properly cared for. This is due to the fiber’s natural stretch that allows garment to move with you and recover.

Mill

Founded in 1767, this family-owned mill has been making some of the world’s finest fabrics in the United Kingdom for over 250 years. Their wastewater is monitored by a local water treatment facility. Additionally, they're working to gain accreditation for wool and cashmere in future, with intention to be certified by the Sustainable Fiber Alliance (SFA) and Responsible Wool Standard (RWS). They comply with the following management standard:

  • ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System

Factory

This Italian factory was founded in 2003 by three women, two of whom are sisters with impressive family lineage in fashion and garment craftsmanship. Their grandmother was a gifted talent scout who discovered Martin Margiela, among others, and their father dedicated a lifetime to the art of traditional tailoring.
