The Paul Smith x Gabriela Hearst collection brings together two long-standing friends through a shared interest in craft and material. The fourteen-piece collection draws on two archival photographs taken by Paul Smith's father in the British countryside during the 1950s and 1960s: one of a mountain, the other of a waterfall. The images were reworked into a landscape print across silk satin trench coats and bias-cut slip dresses.
Tailoring shapes the more structured pieces, including suiting in Italian-made virgin wool with a barre weave carrying the same mountain and waterfall imagery. Cashmere sweaters in space-dyed Welfat yarn are hand-knit by Manos del Uruguay, the cooperative that has worked with Gabriela Hearst since the label's earliest collections, connecting the capsule to the Uruguayan artisan network that has long been part of her work.
The accessories include reworked versions of the Nina and Demi top-handle bags, each carrying the landscape print created for the collection. Paul Smith's use of colour and pattern sits alongside Gabriela Hearst's focus on traceable materials and considered construction, with the two coming together across tailoring, knitwear and accessories.
