This mill was first founded in 1838 as a cotton producer and became the first in Italy to produce velvet and moleskin textiles. When possible, they try to use natural processes instead of chemical. For example, they only use natural finishing and washing agents to create the desired performance and feel of material. In comparison, conventional finishing byproducts include heavy metals and microplastics that go into environment. Additionally, they have replaced some of the typical chemical or metal elements of dye process with natural ingredients. This garment was produced at a family-owned Italian factory that was founded in 1975. Today, the founders' daughters run operations. They use LED lights to minimize power consumption, and they recycle both raw materials and fabric waste. By the end of 2020, they hope to install solar panels to offset energy from nonrenewable sources and sources that pollute.
