Derived from the Gabriela Hearst military-style shirtdress archive, the Meyer Shirtdress is rendered in powder blue wool-cashmere flannel, with inverted box pleats giving the full-length silhouette quiet movement through the skirt. The 93% wool, 7% cashmere blend holds tailored structure through the bodice while softening against the skin, finished with a point collar, concealed button placket, dual breast and skirt pockets, and a self-belt at the waist.

The flannel is woven at a family-run Italian mill that runs on solar power and reuses its production water, while the shirtdress itself is constructed at a small atelier founded by three women in 2003, one generation removed from a father who spent his life in traditional tailoring.

"Blended fibers take on properties of the joining counterparts to achieve uniquely desirable characteristics.
Silk is known for its luxurious drape, luster and ability to take rich color. It is the strongest natural fiber and has low density, creating light and comfortable fabric. SilkÕs resilient elasticity maintains garment shape, and its smooth surface is resistant to attracting dirt. Silk keeps you cool in warm weather, and provides insulating warmth in cool weather.
Wool is a renewable fiber; one sheep can produce 4-5 pounds of wool per year. Wool provides warmth by trapping heat, while simultaneously transporting moisture away from the body so skin stays dry and comfortable. It is naturally antimicrobial, so it resists odors and rarely needs washing. Its exceptional durability allows for long garment lifespan, and it can biodegrade when disposed into right soil conditions."

"This mill was founded in the 1950s as a small weaving operation in northeast Italy. Today, this mill focuses on careful resource management and carbon reduction. All production water is filtered and reused. When possible, they use a natural beeswax finishing instead of chemical finishing. They also use solar panels and capture internal heat to convert into power. This mill complies with the following standards:

This Italian factory was founded in 2003 by three women, two of whom are sisters with impressive family lineage in fashion and garment craftsmanship.
