The Sardis Platform Sandal pairs dark chocolate multi suede straps with a natural cork wedge heel, a low-impact material harvested by shaving the trunk rather than felling the tree. Handcrafted in Italy at a Venice atelier, it's built in Nappa lamb leather with calf leather soles tanned in Florence, set on a 4-inch cork block heel with a 2-inch platform and an adjustable ankle buckle for a secure fit.

The soles come from a Florentine tannery practicing its craft since 1948, adhering to Leather Working Group environmental standards.

Sustainable Materials

This season, Gabriela Hearst's signature Striker sandals, made in Italy, are crafted out of a biodegradable EVA platform on a cuoio leather sole with a comfortable footbed. The multi-functional buckles mixed with the premium Italian calf leather in a rich gold color, are inspired by Gabriela Hearst's collection theme.

The soles of these shoes are made from bio-based EVA foam. Use of bio foam allows the soles to degrade in an industrial controlled landfill, unlike virgin EVA foam.

Genuine Nappa is a chrome-tanned leather known for its distinctly smooth and supple softness. It is named after its origins in Napa Valley, California, where its tanning process was first developed in 1875. Like other full-grain leathers, its natural texture and marks show on the surface; for this reason, only better-quality hides are used.

Calfskin is notable for its durable and pliable nature. Flexible enough for a custom fit, the tightness of the grain provides an elegant and refined surface.

This shoe was made at a factory located in Venice, Italy.

Based in Florence, Italy since 1948, this small leather tannery is part of the Leather Working Group.
