Grace Gummer wears a custom Gabriela Hearst sculptural off-the-shoulder dress crafted from gold leather to the 2026 Met Gala, Fashion is Art. The dress is born from a fluid creative process between Grace and Gabriela, which revealed Grace’s personal connection to the Gabriela Hearst Spring/Summer 2023 collection inspired by Sappho.

Recalling the gold leather craftsmanship of that season, Hearst immediately envisioned a bespoke evolution for Gummer, with the atelier translating the design with such precision that it emerged exactly as rendered in the initial sketch by Gabriela.

The dress, made in Italy and assembled at the atelier in New York, is constructed from seamless bonded leather, precision-contoured and tailored to the body todefine the chest andderriere. A signature natural edgedetail finish is applied to the neckline to frame thedécolletage.

The silhouette, balancing rawness and sophistication, is completed by an asymmetrical skirt, gathered and sculpted with engineered seamless bonding in a contrasting black and gold palette.
