Shearling Clothing
With shearling, the character of the material is the design. Gabriela Hearst approaches each piece through the provenance, quality, and natural texture of the hide. The lamb skins are traceable and selected for a dense, even nap and supple hide, then shaped by artisans whose approach respects the material’s natural character and precision. A genuine shearling coat is cut so the pelt does the insulating and the pattern does the shaping, with seams placed to follow the body.
The outerwear runs from a long shearling coat that falls past the knee in a clean line to a cropped shearling jacket that sits at the waist, along with a shearling bomber jacket with ribbed finishes along with shearling-lined styles where the leather jacket contrasts a smooth nappa exterior with the tactile warmth of shearling lining. A black shearling coat is the most direct expression of the house's tonal instinct, while brown and biscuit read warmer against knitwear, and the shapes sit naturally within the wider outerwear collection.
The same skins carry beyond outerwear. A shearling bag brings the material into an accessory with a soft, sculptural body and tonal hardware.
