Lavani Skirt in Greyscale Inversa™ Snakeskin
The snake is a central symbol woven throughout our Fall ’24 collection—appearing in motif, pattern, and skins. In the work of archaeologist Marija Gimbutas, the snake was revered in ancient European homes as a sacred emblem of good fortune, regeneration, prosperity, and fertility. Its sinuous form exudes quiet power and enduring grace of the ancient goddesses.
This wild Burmese python (Python bivittatus) is sourced from the Florida Everglades, where it is a highly invasive species. Just one 20-foot python can consume up to 39 endangered animals and over 460 native species in its lifetime. With 90% of native Everglades wildlife populations under threat, the need is great for removing these predators.
By doing so, this initiative helps restore ecological balance to one of the most unique ecosystems in the world. The python hides are tanned using traditional Italian techniques, resulting in a luxurious and smooth snakeskin hand-feel.
This purpose-driven harvesting of exotic leathers provides a meaningful, sustainable alternative in luxury leather production.
