The collection combines lace woven in Italy with hand-crocheted pieces made with women artisans in Bolivia, alongside house-developed cashmere lace. The different treatments give the fabric a range of textures, from fine woven lace to the more tactile quality of crochet.
Lace dresses are cut to follow the body, while lace tops and lace skirts bring the fabric into the wider collection. Skirts are offered in midi and maxi lengths, with defined lines and softer silhouettes. The range also includes long-sleeve styles, a lace tank top and cami styles designed for layering. Blouses and tailoring provide contrast to the texture of lace, while silk and cotton blends give the dresses and skirts their drape.
Lace sits alongside Gabriela Hearst's tailoring and knitwear, bringing a softer element to the collection without losing its focus on natural and traceable fibres and considered construction. A lace dress or skirt can stand alone, or become part of a wardrobe built around fine materials, strong silhouettes and careful cutting.
