Resort 2026

"The Lover, the sixth triumph of the Tarot of Marseille, is often misinterpreted as "The Lovers.” It depicts three figures connected by a choreography of equivocal hand gestures. Above them shines a radiant sun, half-veiled by a chubby, smiling Cupid. The angel’s bow curves beneath the solar orb, forming a jaw and revealing the shape of a skull. Beneath its jovial appearance, this card captures the deep ambiguity of human relationships: desire and rejection, eternity and impermanence, nobility and pettiness, harmony and rivalry, ecstasy and agony. So, who is the true Lover? Perhaps it is the great radiant sun itself, casting its objective light over the scene.”

- Marianne Costa, tarot expert and author of “The Way of Tarot”

The Gabriela Hearst Resort 2026 collection was photographed on the Passerelle Léopold-Sédar-Senghor bridge in Paris, a location that happens to be close to Costa's heart because it was where she often walked with her grandmother as a child. Using the Lovers card as a starting point to study the history of the Tarot with Costa, the collection features a color story inspired by a vivid drawing of Gabriela’s: the blue representing wisdom, the pink love nature, and the green the creative way.

Colors in the collection are presented in pairings of bordeaux with fuschia, navy with cobalt and English green with a vibrant green.

Knit or woven speckled pieces combine these color pairings in varied textures: layered chunky-knit cashmere separates, woven cashmere donegal tweed, and slip dresses hand-knitted from fine twisted-silk yarn threaded through glass beads.

Different leather techniques include supple suede with seamless bonding techniques used for trench coats and wrap skirts. More structured pieces like Moto jackets and biker pants are constructed with black, cognac and white deerskin appliqués, a geometric color-blocking story that is reflected in matching knitwear.

A cavalino calfskin is engineered in outerwear or knitted as a cashmere jacquard, brushed to recreate the texture of the animal hide.

Three-dimensional leaves are fully embroidered in aloe linen on dresses, skirts, and are fully engineered, embroidered and hand applique in leather on a complementary black bomber jacket.

In the silk pieces, details include engineered smocking and hand-embroidered and knotted silk fringe, as well as a tonal jacquard of Mia’s flowers, a drawing made by Gabriela’s daughter.

Crosta suede embossed to replicate a corduroy is featured in new colored suiting. For both men and women, tailoring is juxtaposed with trucker jackets from Gabriela Hearst’s sustainable denim line, woven from a mix of pre- and post- consumer recycled cotton.

Sustainable suiting made in Italy from Italian grown cotton. Farmed using regenerative and certified organic techniques in small batches in the south of Italy. The raw material is carded, spun, woven dyed and finished all within Italy, reducing the carbon footprint on transportation while improving soil conditions where the goods are farmed.

A blanket-stripe woven cashmere combining all of the season’s colors into an oversized coat was custom-made using historic blanket looms in Biella, Italy. It connects the season’s color palette to signature tones of camel, cognac, black and ivory present in the rest of the collection.

Handbag shapes include the folded Marija tote in leather and suede as well as the Hobo bag made to match the cowhide pattern or deep suede hues of the ready-to-wear. The crossbody Leonora bag pairs deep shades of nappa leather with bright accents of crochet.

The footwear emphasis is on the OHIO sneaker in the season’s palette and the Capitana cowboy boots with appliqués inspired by the brand’s swirl motif from one of Gabriela’s drawings. A black flat slipper with a contrasting white tongue is a new shape for Resort.

As in Gabriela’s color study for the season, a touch of gold completes many of the looks in the form of recycled 18K gold torques, chains and solid bangles and 18K gold ear clips and a platinum locket pendant in hand-sculpted ‘nugget’ forms, a recurring natural motif in Gabriela Hearst collections.
